The Show

"she saw, he saw: Superior" presented the photography of Jane Keeler and Jake Morrison from a trip dedicated to capturing our individual views of the area above Lake Superior. The show was presented at Gallery 200, 200 Crichton Street, Ottawa on the 150 feet of massive old public school hallway walls in November and December 2017.

As we travelled, asking after swimming places, and entering into many cool, cold and frigid waters, Jake documented the width and depth of the scenes. Jane was fascinated with the relationships of the human bodies to each other and to the bodies of water. Children gently burying a friend in the sand - teenagers circling - swimmers who seem to long for each other - runners bursting along the sand - mothers floating amongst their babes as serene as waterlilies.

We revisited old favourites, such as the Mouth Park, where the Au Sable and the Spanish Rivers french kiss-and found new ones including Rainbow Falls Provincial Park, and under the bridge on the Au Claire.
