Photography and Fine Art Digital Printing for the Beauty of It

"she saw, he saw: Superior" presented the photography of Jane Keeler and Jake Morrison from a trip dedicated to capturing our individual views of the area above Lake Superior. The show was presented at Gallery 200, 200 Crichton Street, Ottawa on the 150 feet of massive old public school hallway walls in November and December 2017.

Gallery 200 - "she saw, he saw: Superior" - 2017

Jake had the idea for our second comparative photography show - depicting the vistas of the territory we saw on several trips around Lake Superior. When we thought about using the photos we had made in trips past, we both thought perhaps we need a trip that intentionally gathers our perspectives. Looking back through our previous shots, we found out we have remarkably consistent "eyes." Jake longs for the big scene. Jane looks for quirky, close or small.

This time our visit to the shores of Lake Superior was a rambling slowish one. I had told Jake I must swim every day to be willing to travel! So Jake proposed we should make the finding of local swimming spots a focus of our trip - and we did! Wherever we went we asked for the inside information as to best places - and we got to most of them.

I will be the gladdest thing
Under the sun!
I will touch a hundred flowers
And not pick one.
I will look at cliffs and clouds
With quiet eyes,
Watch the wind bow down the grass,
And the grass rise.
And when lights begin to show
Up from the town,
I will mark which must be mine,
and then start down!
